Collaboration must be part of the DNA of your company.

Over the holiday’s I was thinking about what I believe, a picture of company success would look like if it were run in a new open and authentic way. In reviewing all the teams that I had managed over the years, it became relatively easy to isolate out some of the best characteristics. Taken singularly, there are some ideas and answers that can be brought to bear but in the complex arena of organizational governance and politics it becomes a much more difficult & complex issue. Below are some of my thoughts for you to digest. What do you think? What would you add? What would you remove?

Business Tip #9: Know Your Vendors to Build Business

It’s extremely important to build relationships with your vendors and those around you can bring in new customers/clients and increase awareness of your company branding.

The people you work directly with on your products and services are really the ones with the most to gain when you find success. By taking the time to get to know them, you’ll find a whole host of opportunities you didn’t realize were there.

Look for great ways to offer your vendors rewards for helping grow your business and everyone wins. One of ways you can do this is by offering performance based incentives that are much larger than their normal charges.

Successful People are Not Always Successful Leaders

Many people assume that if someone is successful it is because they have good leadership skills. Some people assume that if a business is successful it is because it has good leaders. Leadership isn’t something that is particularly easy to pass on to other people. Sometimes a company is successful because a past leader was very skilled as a leader and the current leader simply has kept things running the same as before.

 Great leadership is a rare skill. For most people it doesn’t come naturally. It is amazing how many organizations are successful even though they have only marginally competent people leading them. Many times this is because the structure of the organization helps make up for a leaders short comings.

Get the Most from Your Executive Coaching Sessions

Executive Coaching must be a vested interest arrangement by both parties. In my practice I will always emphasize that we are here to allow you to be the best and most productive person you want to be.  I am here to help unlock doors and encourage forward momentum in your life, I won’t force you to go somewhere you are not comfortable. Your time is valuable. Here’s how to get the most for it when you attend a coaching session.

1) Know what you want, or ask for help to find it

Before the session, concentrate on setting goals for yourself based on the materials provided by the coach. What do you want to learn? How can this program help you? What would make you feel that your time was well spent? It’s critical that you begin your sessions on a strong foundation and it really does start with self-evaluation.
